Adam Bandt threatens “climate trials” for political enemies
Adam Bandt the Greens MP for the seat of Melbourne has seemingly threatened to prosecute his political enemies for disagreeing with him on global warming. The pint sized four eyes declared on Twitter that a photo depicting Liberal Party lower house MPs would be “Exhibit A in the upcoming climate trials”.
Like most of you I had no idea that “climate trials” were planned. Could Adam perhaps enlighten us to the date? Or maybe the charges? Or are those things only now being secretly worked out in Greens HQ? Can’t let those crafty “climate criminals” have a chance to escape after all.
Normally when politicians start ranting about putting their political enemies on trial not for breaking any written law but simply for disagreeing with them it’s a sign that totalitarianism is on its way. Does Adam Bandt have any history of sympathy for totalitarian ideologies?
Well funny you should mention that…
Back in his uni student days in the early 90s a young Adam Bandt was a leader of the “Left Alliance” organisation. the Left Alliance was formed in 1983 by Students aligned to the Communist Party of Australia (CPA) and by the time Bandt was involved it also included the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP), a Trotskyist organisation and the precursor group to the Socialist Alliance. Adam Bandt also spoke at a “Black Lives Matter” rally in the Melbourne suburb of Flemington held after the anti-Milo riots in 2017 which was organised by Jasmine Ali of the revolutionary Trotskyist group Solidarity. And just last year he was a featured speaker at the IMARC riots outside the Melbourne convention centre organised by Socialist Alternative, yet another revolutionary Trotskyist group.
That’s three strikes without even bothering to look all that hard.
When politicians with decades of links to groups who want to
overthrow the government and implement a totalitarian socialist state start
making threats about putting their political enemies on trial simply for disagreeing
with them you’d think that’d be newsworthy.
But it isn’t of course, because Australian journalists disproportionately vote Greens. And if you’ve been following some of their Twitter accounts you can see that many of them agree with Adam Bandt that people who fail to sufficiently grovel before their apocalyptic religion of climate doom should face criminal trials.
And if the thought of extremist linked politicians and seemingly semi-deranged journalists calling for political trials to eliminate arguments they disagree with doesn’t make you slightly worried, the fact that powerful people are now treating this as being entirely normal should.
